Job Description:

As a DevOps engineer at Pitney Bowes you will be part of a small, dynamic technical team supporting developers located across three geographies. You will gain valuable experience running a 24x7x365 eCommerce platform built around a micro service architecture and running in an AWS hosted Kubernetes platform. You will work closely with internal development teams across multiple geographies supporting, managing and designing CICD tools and helping developers turn code into eCommerce solutions.

The Job

  • Building and configuring new development tools and infrastructure.

  • Building automation tools to support the development teams and CICD Pipelines.

  • Supporting development teams to ensure our solutions are secure and patched as per vendor recommendations.

  • Diagnosis and remediation of technical issues.

  • Working with other stakeholders and development teams to solve technical problems relating to docker, Kubernetes and other parts of the platform.

  • Promotion of releases to environments through the CICD pipelines.

  • Management and configuration of git, git workflows, gitlab ci and Jenkins.

  • Configuring, supporting and deploying Amazon Web Services infrastructure via automation tools.

  • Supporting and configuring Kubernetes clusters and infrastructure.

  • Scripting with python and bash

  • Building and configuring docker based images and supporting image creation.

Qualifications & Skills required

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent experience in a similar role.

  • Strong understanding of core devops fundamentals.

  • A good understanding of core internet technologies (tcpip, ssl, routing)

  • Strong Linux and terminal usage in a production environment.

  • Strong knowledge and real world experience of AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm

  • An understanding of virtualisation and ephemerality in a micro service based solution.

  • Strong scripting knowledge (eg. bash, python)

  • Problem-solving attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Collaborative team spirit.
