Job Description:
*The Job *
The job of a Senior Advisory Data Engineer is to lead a portion of the Data Infrastructure team located in India. This position will collaborate and coordinate with global and cross-functional stakeholders across Pitney Bowes’ organization and external partners. In addition, the position will drive continuous improvement of our processes and modernize our technologies. You will be an integral part of our talented team, supporting our continued growth, staging data that is the foundation of Client Analytics’ reports and analytics that drive better Marketing performance.
A day in the life…
Collaborate and coordinate with the Director of Data Infrastructure across time zones.
Lead a small (< 6) India team of Data Engineers.
Work together with the teams of Pitney Bowes’ data landscape, including and not limited to the Data Strategy and Governance team, Engineering, Enterprise Information Management, Sales Operations, and Sales Reporting and Analytics.
Effectively communicate concepts with authority and conviction.
Increase efficiencies across data processes within the team.
Develop a deep understanding and fine-tune extensive experience in accessing internal databases and navigating our complex data infrastructure.
Stay abreast of latest industry topics, trends, news, methodologies, and tools. You will keep a constant eye out for potential improvements in analytics processes, data quality and data sources/tools.
Responsibilities
With minimal guidance:
Coach and develop your team to ensure a business understanding across the team.
Manage and help prioritize the bandwidth of the team.
Apply established analytical rigor and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data for data quality assurance.
Actively curate customer related information into structured data domains for rapid analytical prototyping.
Embrace a measurable and repeatable analytics delivery model with proven industry methodologies (e.g. Agile Scrum/Kanban, CRISP-DM) and supporting tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Teams, Gitlab, SageMaker)
Encourage team members to probe into technical details that leverage your unique experiences.
Provide guidance to crafting and updating Pitney Bowes enterprise-wide data strategy and roadmap in the areas you are leading.
Leveraging visualization tools to provide expected counts and values to analysts.
Deliver systematic approaches, integrating work into applications and tools with our cross-functional teams of data engineers, product managers, design teams, business stakeholders, analysts, operational managers, developers and engineers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, and/or Business Intelligence.
8-10 year years of experience in a related field
Prior experience leading a team.
Working knowledge of the business or domain area
Experience with ETL tools and databases (i.e. Snowflake, SQL Server)
Must have
Strong project management and prioritization skills. Ability to balance multiple priorities to meet timelines.
Must be a team player and self-starter with a strong ability and desire to learn new things.
Strong presentation skills to develop compelling PowerPoint presentations and can translate data modeling concepts into plain English.
Interest in tracking user metrics to inform change management decisions.
Experienced and comfortable working with Agile development teams
Good to have
MBA is highly preferred.
Able to lead and adapt to changing priorities.
Highly collaborative, flexible, and communicative
Strong organizational skills
Comfortable presenting recommendations to colleagues and stakeholders
