You will:

  • Work with a team who uses data, analytics, engineering/lean methodology, and project management toolsets to identify opportunities for continuous improvement across a complex and diverse global business

  • Help identify and prioritize opportunities to drive improvement in our Workforce Management tools, systems, and knowledge base

  • Assist in the development of tools, templates, and processes that allow for standardized, efficient, and accurate data analysis and outputs

  • Work side by side with operations management, leadership, and other teams to prioritize business and information needs related to Labor Planning and Performance Management


Your background:

Our selection process is therefore focused on the highest quality candidates that demonstrate a rigorous academic curriculum as well as having established themselves with authentic projects pursued in and outside the classroom. As a Workforce Optimization Intern, you have the following background and skills:

  • A senior in college pursuing a B.S./B.A. in Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, Management Science, or other quantitative discipline

  • Results-driven, perform well under pressure and can successfully prioritize and work against deadlines

  • Team player mindset and willing to work collaboratively alongside peers

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly express yourself in team meetings and comfortable presenting in front of a group

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent active listening skills and open to various points of view

  • Effective written and verbal communication

  • You are committed to excellence in your work and maintain high professional and ethical standards to: “Do the Right Thing, The Right Way.”


  • Exposure or understanding of: Workforce Planning and Workforce Management principles, process and continuous improvement methodologies, advanced data analytics

Commerce Services is comprised of the company’s technology-enabled ecommerce and logistics businesses, including presort services, fulfillment, delivery and returns services. The Commerce Services business unit plays a critical role in the Pitney Bowes transformation strategy, serving more than 3,000 clients, including more than 600 retailers and online marketplaces. In 2019, the business unit accounted for more than $1.5 billion in annual revenue, processing more than 17 billion pieces of letter mail and 140 million parcels. Our digital technology enabled the delivery of another 400 million parcels.
