As a Lead Service Technician you serve as the "go-to" person as a Technical Lead for the Presort facility. The Lead drives the equipment maintenance process for assigned site and regularly acts as a technician, while also providing some work direction to other technicians at the site. Although this individual can provide input and feedback to the Technician Supervisor or Regional Support Manager about technician performance, they do not handle performance management or corrective action. The Lead Technician role does not have direct reports.

You will:

  • Schedule, distribute, conduct and evaluate equipment preventive maintenance in accordance with MPTQM standards.

  • Monitor and maintain site spare parts and supply inventory according to MP2 guidelines.

  • Provide work direction to site technicians and provide input and feedback to direct supervisor on technician performance.

  • Provide phone support, emergency on-site support and on-call availability as needed.

  • Determine and distribute work schedules for site technicians.

  • Provide assistance with equipment moves and upgrades.

  • Maintains all appropriate technical documentation for site equipment. Maintains all appropriate software directories/upgrades for site.

  • Communicates with vendors as needed and maintains regular and positive communication with appropriate USPS representatives.

  • Conducts on-going training and recommends vendor training for site technicians.

  • Escalates equipment emergencies promptly to appropriate internal and/or external contacts. Advises management of all serious equipment issues.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including proven ability to troubleshoot machine problems, establish priorities and work under deadline pressures.

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.

  • Complete familiarity within a Windows environment and basic knowledge of PC interaction with automated equipment.

  • Ability to provide direction, coordinate, and distribute work depending on technical/operational needs.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • On-call availability as needed.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime as required.

  • Successful completion of electronics coursework, usually provided in a program at a trade school or community college, or progressively more responsible experience working on equipment.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining, repairing or installing mailing or comparable equipment preferred..

  • AA degree in Electronics, Computer Science or related field of study is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Windows PC environment as it pertains to the operation of automated equipment preferred.

  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.

The Team

Our Presort Services team is a national outsource provider of mail presort services for first-class and standard-class mail in the U.S. and a workshare partner of the United States Postal Service (USPS). Our Presort Services network provides mailers with end-to-end solutions from pick up at their location to delivery into the postal system. Through our network of 33+ U.S. locations, and with our fully customized proprietary technology, we process approximately 15 billion pieces of mail annually and are able to expedite delivery and optimize postage savings for our clients.
