You are:

A UX Architect who enjoys developing and driving UX vision for products and solutions within a business domain area. You will play a key part in defining, shaping and creating digital solutions by delivering outstanding user-centered designs. A User Experience Architect who thrives on building meaningful relationships with cross-functional leadership and colleagues (product management, engineering, UX/CX) within a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment. This position can sit in any of these locations: Shelton, CT, Troy, NY, Austin, TX or Boulder, CO.

You will:

  • Lead an initiative to develop a holistic UX vision for a suite of products along with product leadership. You will map the current product ecosystem and envision a future state that creates greater synergy and interoperability across key products and solutions.

  • Work with product leadership to gain commitments to Design Thinking maturity.

  • Distill goals, constraints and risks into a design vision and well-thought-out plans. Prioritize tasks, manage expectations, mitigate risks and offer creative approaches to achieving design solutions even in the context of challenging constraints.

  • Initiate and run UX Research activities like client interviews and usability studies to understand customer behavior, refine design approaches, and validate solutions. Strategize with team members and product managers to take action on research findings.

  • Brainstorm, research, wireframe, design, and iterate user experiences within specified product requirements and deadlines.

  • Create artifacts to communicate the recommended user experience to internal stakeholders and development teams - such as project briefs, presentations, user flows, site maps, taxonomies, wireframe specifications

  • Facilitate stakeholder check-ins, provide opportunities for team Design Thinking activities, track and measure outcomes.

  • Clearly articulate the UX process and how design works collaboratively with the cross-functional team.

  • Provide input on plans for delivery and release schedules for the UX disciplinary track. Plan and coordinate inputs from team resources, including IxDs, researchers, visual designers, content writers and other contributors

  • Perform competitive analysis, market assessments and heuristic evaluations

  • Capture requirements and user needs into innovative design solutions that are engaging, valuable and usable.

  • Work closely with a cross-functional team that includes developers, system architects, product managers, subject matter experts and program managers.

Your background:

As a Principal UX Architect, you have:

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and executives, elevate UX research and design to a strategic business asset. Employed pragmatic and effective approaches to UX.

  • Championed Design Thinking and Lean UX principles & techniques. Proven ability to diplomatically advocate for the user, communicate informed design rationale and value, as well as manage related expectations, culture and process changes.

  • Served as a UX team lead, mentoring and coaching junior team members.

  • Planned and ran UX research activities such as customer interviewing and usability testing, and synthesized the results into actionable recommendations

  • Keen understanding of usability principles, web standards, UI patterns and their application.

  • Effectively worked with cross-functional teams, which encompass collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills.

  • Outstanding communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in these areas: UX prototyping experience with tools like Axure, Sketch

  • Created user journeys, personas, scenarios, navigational maps, flow diagrams, wireframes and prototypes

  • Worked with Agile practices and Design Thinking principles.

  • Tracked user metrics to inform design decisions.

  • Maintained expert level knowledge of competitive products & experiences.

  • Experience in working with Agile development teams.

  • Experience using web analytics data to inform design decisions.

  • Project Management experience a plus, not a must.
