Job Description:

Responsibilities:

The Senior Counsel will be responsible for legal matters pertaining to technology, including review of customer and supplier contracts, management of Pitney Bowes’s intellectual property portfolios, right to use / clearance analyses and oversight of Pitney Bowes’s open source software policies. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for supporting all corporate functions and business units within Pitney Bowes. The Senior Counsel will work both independently and under the supervision of the Deputy General Counsel. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: advising business and cross-functional stakeholders on day-to-day and strategic commercial transactions that may include product liability issues, intellectual property rights, warranty terms, indemnification provisions, privacy issues as well as key company policies and procedures; drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex agreements, including technology and outsourcing agreements (e.g., ITO and BPO), software and SaaS-related agreements (both development and inbound/outbound licensing), ecommerce agreements, web-based terms and conditions, financing/payment agreements (e.g., for credit card and alternate payment methods), procurement contracts and various other types of agreements; advising business units, engineering and innovation teams regarding various legal matters pertaining to technology, including right to use / clearance issues and disputes; and working on special projects with senior management, other members of the Legal Department, and outside counsel as necessary. This position may be located in the company’s Stamford, Connecticut office or may be remote.

Education and Experience:

The Senior Counsel must hold a law degree from an accredited United States law school and be a member in good standing of the bar of a state or the District of Columbia. If not a member of the CT bar, the Senior Counsel may need to apply immediately for CT authorized house counsel status upon hire. The Senior Counsel should have at least 5 years’ experience in technology law, and in house experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in negotiation and client management, management of intellectual property portfolios, right to use / clearance analyses and open source software policies. Experience with financing/payment agreements and government/public sector contracting are a plus. Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
